Check it Out:
The Clearwater Memorial Public Library is part of a regional library consortium named VALNet. You have access to over 300,000 items within this system. Once you have obtained your library card you may use it at any library within the system, order materials from any system library, have them delivered to any system library, and return them to any system library. New patrons may check out two items on their first visit. Once you are an established patron, you may check out up to 20 items. You may view the VALNet on-line catalog, check your library account, and renew your books at www.orofinolibrary.com. You also have access to magazines and newspapers in the library. Your initial library card is free, but the replacement cost for a lost card is $1.00. We charge $.10 per day per item in fines for overdues. Other libraries in VALNet may or may not charge more in fines, and you are responsible for whatever that library charges. DVD's often have a charge of as mu ch as $1.00 for each day you are overdue. Patrons are responsible for anything checked out on their card including payment for lost items.

Due Dates:
Most library materials may be checked out for three weeks and renewed two times. DVD's are checked out for a week. Items may be renewed in person in the library, by telephone, or over the Internet as long as there are no holds on the item, you have no fines, fees, or overdue items. Items that have a hold on them for another patron may not be renewed.

Fines:
Fines are charged at $.10 per item per day up to a maximum of $5.00 for most materials. As a courtesy, an overdue notice may be sent after three weeks. Whether an overdue notice is sent or not, you as the patron are responsible for returning all materials on time. The KOHA system sends an email (if you have an email account) about the status of your account. If a book is lost, please notify the library immediately to stop the fines from accumulating. The replacement cost of any unreturned item must be paid. Fines and bills on a patron's account will result in the patron's borrowing privileges and computer access being suspended. This suspension of borrowing privileges will be throughout the Valnet system and will remain in effect until the account is settled.

Reserving Materials:
Items may be reserved (or have a "hold" placed on them) in your name in person, by calling the library, or by accessing the library via the Internet. Your name will then go to the bottom of the "hold" list for that item and you will be called or emailed when the item is available for your checkout. The library will "hold" the requested item for seven days after the patron is notified. If an item is not picked up within 7 days, it will be returned to the lending library.

Interlibrary Loans:
ILL books that are outside of the Valnet system can be ordered for a fee that will cover the postage.

Internet Access:
Free access to the Internet is available for one hour per day. You may call ahead to reserve a time for the current day. Quick checks (less than 15 minutes) of e-mail do not require reservations, but do require sign up at the circulation desk. The library has broadband wireless access for library patrons and one hour of power use per day for computer charging. The library also has computers for children (12 and under) that can be set to block all Internet access, but still give access to some educational materials or games. The library does filter, in accordance with state law, Internet access on its computers, and relies on parent's judgment of internet use for their children. All patrons must sign an Internet use policy before using Internet computers. A parent's signature (in person) is required for all users 18 years of age or younger. Please inquire at the circulation desk for more information. A complete Internet Safety Policy is available for patrons at the circulation desk.

Fax, Printer, and Scanning Services:
Faxes may be sent or received at the Library for a fee. Our fax number is 1-208-476-4527. Our copy machine prints or scans, in black and white only, for a fee. Items can be printed from the computers, both black and white or color, for a fee. Scanning to an email can be done for a fee.
